Bus and RV Door Locks,

Most Commercial Buses come with a Dead bolt or a Air Operated Door & Lock .
As good and strong as it is,...
It's still not as convenient as a RV styled lock mounted in your Door .

If you want to convert your Bus to a RV lock you need to be aware that Buses have a 2" door thickness,
No standard RV Lock is designed for this thickness..

However an Automotive RV Lock design will work and it's safer and stronger.

Standard Air operated Bus Door                                                        Top of Page
Note the little door off to the left of the Entrance Door, That's the outside switch box.

Automotive style                                                                  Top of Page
This design is stronger and safer
It has a  stronger locking mechanism than a RV lock and it does not matter how thick the door is .
It is connected remotely with cables or rods as in your automobile. It does not matter how thick the door is,..
you can install  your inside latch in many potential locations

Rubber sealant will be trimmed when cured

Another, more modern automotive style Lock

Electronic remote unlocking ( as in your car)

Optional inside Stainless steel door pull.
These doors have heavy rubber seals. Sometimes it helps to pull in on them to lock the dead bolt. This handle helps

Standard RV Latches                                                             Top of Page
by Tri mark or Bargeman ,...thin doors only ...
The back side has to connect to the front outside section
In order for this model to work we must design and build an inset box as shown below .
Some people use modified standard RV locks as  below .
This style can only fit a certain thickness door.. most buses have 2"+ doors ..
